(A quick note here, I've added these synopsis for people to go back and remind themselves about what happened or if people come in later and don't want to start at the beginning, they can read these really fast, but they are not a replacement for watching our videos as they are not full descriptions. If you don't want to video, you will miss most of the comedy and all of the fighting as I am not going to do a play by play of each attack. So, please check out our videos)
Day 21 2/1/2023
Episode 33
The Shadow School
We wake up and head out of the room and head down the stairs. The blue cloaked figure is waiting at the bottom of the stairs for us. They say there will likely be a next time as we are not fully trained. Not now though. They tell us to enjoy the food and safe travels. We head to get breakfast, all but Felix who goes to the courtyard and meditates on the staff for guidance. He feels that the island may be a good spot to return to. We enjoy one more meal and are ready to leave. There is no sign of Mist. In fact, there is no sign of anyone. We head to the courtyard to meet Felix and ask him about a library that might be in the school. He has no idea, so we leave, heading out of the school. Gerebor is just laying there and looking at us. He shifts and rises slowly. Felix tells him that we wish to return to the island. He holds out his hand for us and we climb in and he puts us on his back and takes off. When Felix glances back, he sees a burgundy blur flying through the air, and smash right through one of the towers. The red blur says “Remodeling Time,” and we leave the dimension.
The Island
Gerebor rockets across the ocean. We see a desert below us and then back over the lake of Sypet. He then comes to rest on Dagger Beach on our island. We see The Raya, the man of war, and the schooner. The man of war is now above the water like the Raya. Our camp now has huts and wood houses. He lets us down on the beach and bids us adieu. Gerebor lifts off and rockets into the air, fading from view. We head to the village. When we come out of the trees, we see a full village containing about 40 buildings. We also see what looks to be a cart on tracks that leads to a forge and in another direction into the trees and it continues toward the mine. There are people about. They are all standing there staring at the sky. We get their attention. The drow from The Raya comes running from behind us. He tells the village “It’s okay, it’s them.” He introduces Captain Raya. They start applauding. She says we are the discoverers of this island. They have all been here for about six months. Aping is gone now, all the people are gone. The plants are also dead. They aren’t sure what happened. There was a cloud and everything it settled on died. It wiped out a 500 mile long path to the south. All the people fleeing are coming here. About half a percent who used to live there were left alive. There is a bit of a council set up and the first mate of the Raya has a speaking voice here being from the Raya. Idham asks to get the council set up to meet tonight. There are about 100 people here. Our camp was left exactly as it was, but there is now a large double wide longhouse around it.
The blacksmith is named Lara. Idham will be the captain of the man of war and Xander is the first mate now essentially. The drow dips, leaving to get the council then go back to the ship. We all but Felix go to the longhouse. Inside the longhouse, it is just built directly around our campsite, but there is another story. Upstairs is a large room with a couple of desks and a large table in the middle, with a dozen seats. We all break down our tents. Idham and Xander go to the forge, though Idham’s forge was still up in the longhouse. Gwyneira meditates on the demon she has now contracted. The forge is pretty nice looking. There is a female orc working there. Xander tries to connect with Vulkus just to see if he can, and he cannot. They greet the orc. She is working on a lightning rod that the “smart boys” were talking about. Idham offers to help and then takes over for a bit so she can rest. Xander just observes Idham, curious about his work. Idham is able to make 60 nails in half an hour.
Gwyneira talks to the demon in her head. He speaks in abyssal. She introduces herself as Gwyn. The demon is Darwik. He says her energy is tasty. Felix walks to the portal that goes down to the main underground city, and places his hand on the door, reaching out toward the shadow energy. He feels a more potent shadow energy as opposed to the rest of the island, but not as strong as the staff. He sits and meditates on the staff, trying to sense the purpose of why he was sent back here. He begins to feel ill, his back itches and he begins to feel nauseous. He continues his meditation. The nausea is getting worse but he forces it back. As he focuses, his mind goes hazy and he feels like he might be getting overwhelmed. He throws up. His vision starts to swim. As he stops meditating, he starts to feel better, and walking away makes him feel even better. He heads back to camp/the longhouse.
Lara says that Idham seems to know what he’s doing. She says he is welcome in her forge. She says her name is Adarian, not Lara. Xander finds a spot near the forge, and starts to meditate. He is trying to use the forge as a conduit to reach Vulkus. He feels the presence get a little stronger and hears as if far away through a wall or two “Yes, my child? This is challenging.” He wants to know where to go, and she tells him he knows. There are two more cities and then the final one. He will need her anvil to finish what we are here for. He stands up, ending the meditation.
Idham looks around for people. There are some clearing trees and some buildings, some kids running around. Idham asks Adarian where their food comes from. She says mostly fishing. They are trying to farm. The crops grow remarkably quickly but then they die, so it’s not going well. Idham then goes around and observes the town, saying hi and introducing himself, Xander doing the same. Felix makes it back to the long house. He goes inside and checks his tent. Then he goes upstairs, sits down and puts his feet on the table. We pass the time.
We reconvene as the sun begins to set back at the longhouse.
