(A quick note here, I've added these synopsis for people to go back and remind themselves about what happened or if people come in later and don't want to start at the beginning, they can read these really fast, but they are not a replacement for watching our videos as they are not full descriptions. If you don't want to video, you will miss most of the comedy and all of the fighting as I am not going to do a play by play of each attack. So, please check out our videos)
Day 15 11/2/2022
Aping
At the camp before going into Aping, we check the magical items we got from the Skeleton King. The ring is a thieves ring, the cloak is an armored cloak, the belt is a heavy load belt, the boots are boots of levitation, the sword was too magical to tell, and Xander decides to try out the staff, raising it and yelling abracadabra. He regains 50 points of magic, and a little shot of sparks goes flying out, and he uses a luck skill. He then teleports 30ft forward and in an enormous eruption of flames bursts out the front, and then he teleports back. Xander stares at the staff and puts it on his back. We head into Aping from there.
As we step inside the gates, we see off to the sides a gathering area that is likely a medical encampment. It looks quite busy. They likely bring the wounded from the front lines in the war against Delet. We continue into the city, walking past houses and then into a small market area. As we arrive at the city center, we see the general stuff, inn, tavern, general store, blacksmith, apothecary/herbalist. The guild hall or we think so, is over here as well, a few rows back. There is also a large building for the ruling body, not quite a mansion, but big and nicer than the rest. We head to the guild hall while Felix plays his harmonica. People glance at him oddly. As we are walking along, Gwyneira catches out of the corner of her eye a gap in the houses. She stops and pauses, and as she shifts, a building comes into view that is sort of hidden. She knows this is a safehouse for the group she used to be a part of. As the others look and shift, they see the building.
Someone from behind us asks what we’re looking at. Gwyneira goes to punch him, and as she does, there is a powerful repulsive force that pushes her back. He calls Gwyneira “White Snow” a name that she was called in the past. Idham asks what to call him, and he replies by Rashakk. He says the building is a safe house for him and his friends, The Hex organization. Felix tries to call Idham in his mind. Idham replies and Felix tells him this man is to not be trusted. Idham wants to know why and Felix tries to send him information, though it’s broken. He is able to send a man in a green cloak missing a cloak, and then Felix with a metal arm, and then a person with green and a person with a blue cloak. Then “The Hunter Rashakk.”
Idham and Felix feel a mind try to listen in on them, but it fails. Gwyneira asks him why he approached her. He says he recognized her and she was looking at the safe house. Idham tries to speak in his mind telling him it was rude, and he replies, same to you. Gwyneira tells him that she has no interest in going into the safe house, and turns to head toward the guild hall. Felix feels him staring at the back of his head as he follows Gwyneira. The group walks away. Felix feels animosity from Rashakk.
Idham asks what the Hex is and Gwyneira doesn't know the name but says it’s a group that is trying to control shadow magic. Felix knows them because he was told to watch out for them and that they should be watched out for. They are shadow hunters. Felix feels a tickle in the back of his head. It says that it finally has freedom, in Felix’s brain. He recognizes it as his staff and asks about the dual powers it mentioned. It says on the island two warring powers were pushing out all other sentients. We continue toward the guild hall. Gwyneira asks Azazel if he’s heard of the Hex. He says no and she tells him to keep them out of Delet as the two likely won't play well together.
We arrive at the guild hall, and find it’s about middle size. We enter. There is a welcome desk with two people, a Gnome and an Elf. We see doorways three stories up and each has a symbol of the guild. We walk up to the Elf, and she welcomes us. Felix speaks, telling them that we wish to hire. Idham says mining, construction, defense, and medical professionals. We want one healer, one farmer/one fisherman, five construction, five mining, and one group of defense. The first merchant and the first blacksmith to come gets monopoly. They don’t have room and board so we say we’ll be at the inn (Inkspell Inn) and to be in contact in a week. Idham heads to the inn to get a room and Gwyneira asks after an enchanter. They work for the army as a military enchanter, so they might be busy. We can go to the Guild of the Arcane who might have people who can recognize a spell. Idham gets three rooms at four silvers for each room per night. We head to the room of the arcane guild.
A portly Goliath is sitting in the chair at the only desk in the room. Felix greets him and he notices us. He says he isn’t prepared because he is a recent hire and the predecessor was tarred and set on fire because he practiced magic too much in the streets. He was trying to get to Delet and was resting before heading onward. The old guild master approached him and told him that he would likely end up getting put as the guild master. We ask if he can help us identify the items and Idham slams down the sword on the table. He just says a sword. We ask about the spells and he puts on some glasses and looks at the sword. He grabs it to lift up and look at. He says the sword has never seen battle and is a few days old. He says, based on what he sees, it was forged three days ago, no four. There’s definitely enchantments, but he would need more time to study it to figure out what they are. Xander pulls out the staff and sets it on the table. The staff though, a date does not exist for when it was created. This staff likely didn’t even come from this cycle of life. The magic contained is beyond him. It does not use power that he is familiar with. It does not use the power of shadow, arcane, etc. It does not use power from this world. Maybe someone in Omadano in the Kingdom of Toruqua would be able to tell us about it.
Idham stays with the goliath to chat about the island to try and sway him to come with us. Felix and Xander go to explore town. Azazel and Gwyneira go to the tavern. As Idham speaks about the ancient abyssal, the Goliath seems curious and quite interested in learning more about it. Felix and Xander are looking for shops, magical item shops of any kind. What they come across is a cursed item shop. It’s called the Hag’s Head. A little Faerie flies up to them. Xander looks around to see if there is anything that would interest him. Felix asks after something that might cause pain over a long course of time. To a single person and decaying pain. The Faerie directs him to some feet. They are very expensive. Felix leaves and Xander follows.
After a few hours with the sword, the Goliath says it will take him weeks to figure out. The sword was forged four days ago but the enchantments vary from 3,000 years to 15,000 years old. He says they would have to unseal the sword to figure it out. He says the only way to leave the position of Guild Leader is someone else to take over, someone whisks him away, or he is lit on fire. Idham tells him if someone takes over within a week, come see us, if not we’ll come talk to him. His name is Phamala.
Gwyn and Az sit down in the tavern and get a drink, and listen in. They hate the war, the officers suck, there is no ruler, they don’t want to go back to the front, it costs too much to drink, they don't get paid enough, etc. At first no one stands out, but at a second glance, there is a tall elf with long black hair sitting at a table with someone else. It’s Rashakk. When Gwyneira looks back, they’re gone. The other person was female with a white dress. There doesn’t seem to be any arcane magic, but there is a shadow presence. Gwyneria gets up and goes to the table. No one is there and the chairs have been pushed away and the drinks are halfway empty. Gwyneira takes a glass of wine and takes it back to the table to check. Azazel decides he wants to blow up the tavern, but will give it a few days.
Idham enters the tavern. Gwyneira slides a glass of wine on a table and winks at the soldiers. The four of them lunge at the glass. One of them gets the wine and drinks it and then the others hit him. There is a full blown scuffle. She grabs the other glass, stands on a table and does the same thing before setting it down and moving. Everyone in the room lunges at her and she quickly gets out and slams the door. Inside, they hear weapons being drawn. Idham gets a piece of paper, and writes, “Office meeting in progress.” He puts it on the door.
Xander and Felix are still looking around. We met back up. Idham wants to use the sword and the staff together, so quickly head outside the city. Xander aims the staff at the blade Idham is holding out to the side. First, it starts raining underneath the staff. The second thing, he casts disguise self on himself and he turns into Nakii (Tiefling). Then, he casts resurrection on the sword. The sword quintuples in size. A gray smoke starts to come out of the sword and begins forming into the shape of a body. The body is approx 5’2” and lightweight, about 100 lbs. It turns into a female Half-Elf. She is naked. She complains about how long she’s been in there.
