Ripped From the World: An Isekai Story - Episode 3 Synopsis

(A quick note here, I've added these synopsis for people to go back and remind themselves about what happened or if people come in later and don't want to start at the beginning, they can read these really fast, but they are not a replacement for watching our videos as they are not full descriptions. If you don't want to video, you will miss most of the comedy and all of the fighting as I am not going to do a play by play of each attack. So, please check out our videos)

Day 3 10/19/2023

Episode 3

Esce, Camp

As we open our eyes, we are greeted by the scent of grass and damp and canvas, and we realize we are back in our tents. We are still in the other bodies (kitsune, elf, earth primal, hanuman). Ari bursts from her tent and asks us if she was the only one. We chat and realize we all had the same weird dream. River uses their ability of clairvoyance to try to see if they understand. They are at a bit of a loss, but they do know about out of body experiences. This isn’t quite that, but they believe this may follow either that we are revisiting a past life, or an alternate version of ourselves. We then discuss what we should do about Sandrano’s offer of us helping them.

We make sure that we are decent and then head to the firepit to find Sandrano, thinking that’s a good place to start. There, we see a good amount of people. The sun is up above the horizon. People are doing work, cooking, fixing fishing nets, etc. We don’t see Sandrano or Artimious, but we do see Plores. Rowan asks what to call Sandrano and where he is. He says to call him Sandrano, not prince, and that Sandrano has had a bad morning. He can answer for Sandrano or talk to him for us though, and that the fits might last for a while as it isn’t worth waiting around for Sandrano to be ready to talk. We talk to Plores about the proposition that Sandrano gave us. He just wants some help, he doesn’t need us stuck to camp and we can come and go as we please. He wanted to pass along that Sandrano would be worried he may be presumptuous, but he did contact an oracle if we wanted to meet with him, as he might have more insights for us. Maruti tells him that we are here to help and Ari says we are happy to give assistance. We hear a blood curdling scream echo from across the camp. Plores grabs a bucket of water and heats it up, saying he’ll tell us the way to the oracle when he comes back, then he runs back to a tent. We think it was Sandrano.

We feed ourselves, finding unleavened flat bread, eggs? and maybe a brothy stew. We follow along, watching people scooping some of the stew out with the flatbread, grab eggs, and walk away. We eat, and about five or so minutes later, Plores comes out of the tent. As he does so, we see a bright blue light emerge from inside. Plores rubs some sweat off and comes back to us. We ask what is going on, and Plores says it’s regular for Sandrano, but when asked what’s going on, he seems nervous and tells us it isn’t contagious. It’s a consequence of his exile. More specifically, it’s a consequence of the method of his exile. River asks what the method was, and though he is uncertain, he says Sandrano trusts us so he tells us it was a banishment through the planes and it was done poorly. The blue scarring on his face is due to this, and it’s called a spell scar. It’s not common but can happen when beings are sent through the planes and if they’re sent through a plane that contains the spell plague and they come in contact with it. Ari asks if we can help, but no, it has been tried and failed for 270 years. The life expectancy of an elf with a spell scar is 60 years or so. Maruti summons some pepto bismol to give to Sandrano to try.

Plores tells us where to go to meet with the oracle, as the oracle agreed to meet us in the next town over today, after the sun is at its zenith. He points us to a direction through the woods where we’ll find a road and we should follow the road with the sun and we’ll get to town. Once there, we should also get to the guildhall. Esiar is the name of the town, and the oracle will find us. We’ll know it’s him because all oracles have to brand their eyes out and have the sigil of the gods. Sandrano was exiled when he was seven, was there probably 70 years, but came back probably 200 years ago, just out of the country.

Esce, Road

We pack up our stuff and trek through the woods, following Plores’ directions. The trip through the forest is uneventful and we reach a road that looks well traveled.  Ari practices twirling, Rowan plays with her sword and shield, Maruti picks flowers, and River studies the plants and they see a plant that looks like catnip. River picks that catnip. Ari finds that as she twirls and dances her tail doesn’t get in the way, and her body naturally adjusts to it, and she realizes that her tail gives a great counterbalance. Rowan says her tail is pretty, and Ari swishes it in her face, and as Rowan goes to touch it, she dances away. Then Ari smells something wonderful, and automatically wants to find it. She notices a whole large handful of this stuff in River’s hand. Ari pounces on River who squeaks. Ari takes the catnip and rubs it all over her face. Rowan sneaks over to try and play with Ari’s tail as she is distracted, but she does notice. Ari swishes her tail slightly. River lets Ari have the catnip that they already grabbed and goes to get more. We continue along, and after about three hours when the sun has passed the high point, we do see a small little town, about twenty buildings or so. It’s got just a simple wooden fence around it. The road seems a bit busier with beings going in and out of town, though that’s really just about six other beings.

Esiar

We go into the village, and Ari walks to a dwarf and asks after the guildhall. He points us in the right direction. Ari thanks him and he walks off. We walk over to the guildhall. It’s a small building that has a scribbled sign in common saying “Guildhall.” We go in. Inside, there’s about ten different stands, and none of them have anyone manning them. There is a small desk in the middle with a green skinned tall woman with four arms. She greets us. She’s confused that we aren’t in a guild and we tell her that we were in a weird accident. So, she grabs the guild registry, and we expect it to be a long scroll, but it’s blank. She asks us to put our hands, one at a time, on the registry. Maruti sticks his hand right on it, and when he lifts it, words show up. She explains that he is in the guild of the church. Rowan goes next and she is the guild of the fighters. Ari then goes next and she’s in the guild of the entertainers. River does so last, and for them, and it shows up with their name being Exxriit, part of the guild of the arcane. Exxriit tears up a little and thanks her for finding a bit of themself. Rowan asks if being in different guilds is normal, and she says yes. There isn’t anywhere for us to meet with our guilds as it is a small town, but she handles quests and can get messages to the guild leaders and we can schedule appointments. Rowan asks her her name, and she says Drazil.

Ari wants to find a wand, but well above us and slightly behind, we hear a voice address us. Rowan twirls around, Ari twitches her tail annoyingly and slowly turns, while Maruti pulls his holy symbol out. We see behind us, sitting on the roof of the guild hall, and man, kind of. He’s entirely bald, 10 ft tall, and wearing a simple white tunic, and instead of eyes, he has two burn marks. Ari says she would like him to be on our level, and he jumps down and crashes loudly onto the ground. He also seems to have bony ridges along his bald head. As he smiles, all his teeth are fangs. He says he is a goliath and welcomes us. He says that the story of David and Goliath was based on his people. We talk. He says that we had come through a portal and body displacement into a time and place we didn’t expect. Others had done that too. He says that many forces were in place to get us here and that those that found our bodies and those that are part of it on the other side are making sure what is precious to us is taken care of. And that someone from the other side had to be a part of it or we wouldn’t be here. Exxriit asks if there’s anything we should know. We talk with him. He asks if we would go indoors. We agree, and he claps his hands and a shimmering blue portal opens, and he steps through after we tell him we are weary. Maruti goes, then Rowan, then Ari, and then Exxriit.

Wooden Hut, location unknown

We emerge on the other side. What we find is that we are in a large wooden hut. He says, “It’s okay about the vase,” and as we are confused, Ari’s tall hits something and it shatters. He says, “That vase.” He gives us food and tells us to sit. When we stare at the food, uncertain, he says it’s rabbit stew. We sit down and eat, and find that the food is pretty good. He says he wants us each to think for a moment, and decide on one question for each of us that we desire to ask.

Ari asks how we can best be of use. He says that’s difficult as the answer comes from us. He asks in response, what do you want to achieve? He says he can give guidance on a specific goal, but until then, he can’t help much. Ari says her goal is to help these people have a better life. Ari asks how we can improve things for these people. He says the best way to help these people is to not allow them to be taken advantage of.

Rowan asks why we were summoned through the portal, the reason for the people who were a part of it. The simple answer is that we were the easiest. Each of us already had a connection to these bodies/beings/time/place. We were also in the same time and place and that made it easier. The complicated answer is that we each bring something important. Without all four of us, “this” cannot succeed. “This” is something that the oracle does not know as the deities would not tell him, but he knows that the entire pantheon is in agreement that the four of us must be here and now, or four others that would satisfy the requirements: the steadfast warrior, the caring healer, the devout believer, and the one with the arcane prowess. If this is thrown out of balance, the group would struggle.

Maruti asks, when we were ripped from the world, what was the voice he heard. It’s all he can think about. He hears the voice of Bayla, one of the pantheon. He says it’s best to speak to them directly, and go to one of their shrines, and Maruti’s questions might be best answered by them.

Exxriit, he says already feels more at home here than they did in the other. They say yes, except for their cat, but they trust she is being cared for. Exxriit asks in turn what dangers we should be looking out for. He says of course the dangers of a sword to the stomach or a fang to the face. But the greater dangers are likely what they are looking after, and for Exxriit in particular, he says watch for the balcony in the sky. More recently though, do not trust all who have been made known to us yet. Not all may be as they seem. He says he isn’t sure who it is, but we have already met them, and they still currently live. We know their names.

There’s a knock at the door to the hut. Maruti opens the door. On the other side is a stunningly

Exxriit asks how we should know which path to follow. He believes that if we feel we have done the right thing, that will be enough. We will make mistakes. We will miss and have inaction. We already have. He says we will do things the right way. He believes the events have been set in motion that cannot be undone. We will succeed. Exxriit gives him some catnip. He snaps his fingers and the blue door reappears. We try the bread and it’s very good, fresh from the oven. We thank him for his help. Maruti gives him the flowers he picked, and Ari gives him a hug, and he sets the flower where the vase used to be. We head through the blue door. We step through and back out, into the forest, where there is the smell of harsh smoke. beautiful but also slightly strange looking female. She looks to be made of water and ice in the same way that Exxriit looks to be almost leafy. She has wispy flowing sea green hair. Rowan sees nothing behind her. This woman is carrying a large basket in one hand. She calls him Master Groog. He introduces her as Laurimel. He says we may meet her later, so we should remember her. We all introduce ourselves to her. We get bread from Laurimel and he tells her that it is time for her to begin her journey. She wraps her arms tightly around him, and he pats her gently on the head. He tells her not to forget food. She leaves.

Rowan asks what we should do now. He says the camp we are staying in will not be available for much longer, so we should secure a place to stay. It is not the time to go to the camp and help them. But within the next week, we will no longer be able to stay where we are. Ari asks how we go about finding something more permanent. He says the mountain to the west would give us a good place. After one day’s travel to the west of the camp, we will arrive at the mountains. From there we will be looking for a mountain that is barren of all trees. Plenty of bushes but no trees. That is where we will find the place to go. He says that once we leave here, we will not speak again. He doesn’t know if he will die but he will not be able to communicate with the plane at least. He is sad that he has lived to see this begin but sad that he will not see it to its end. He believes that now is when the age will truly begin, the third age, the third cycle, the third turning. The world has undergone two ages before this, twice razed to the ground. It has been some time since the last razing, but for those that studied the ages, the oracles, they have felt that this age has not quite begun yet. Not all oracles agree, but he believes that this age is now about to truly begin.
