Updated: Dec 23, 2022

(A quick note here, I've added these synopsis for people to go back and remind themselves about what happened or if people come in later and don't want to start at the beginning, they can read these really fast, but they are not a replacement for watching our videos as they are not full descriptions. If you don't want to video, you will miss most of the comedy and all of the fighting as I am not going to do a play by play of each attack. So, please check out our videos)

Day 7 7/20/2022

The Island

We wake up the next morning, and The Raya is gone. Felix swims, Idham prays, Xander carves wood, and Gwyneira eats breakfast. Hawthorn sees if there’s anything for him to do. Az is sharpening his wings. We decide that we should walk along the beach in order to check the island before heading back to the camp and along the inside the next day. We head along the beach, and just a little way down, we can tell that the beach has been altered. We can pick out that there are 12 points that magic is emanating from. The points continue down and to the water. The rocks don’t look natural and look to be carved and likely not native to the island. Idham can tell, the rock is a lava stone. There are no volcanoes in the area.

Azazel comes down to say that it looks like a path out into the water. It goes 80ft from water to land and extends about 40 ft or more under water that he can see. Gwyneira swims into the water to see more of the path while Xander and Felix dig to see if maybe something was there that used to be a dock. Idham looks for missing rocks and Hawthorn assists. They find one regular stone and one broken stone (only half of it). Xander and Felix can’t uncover anything but more sand. Gwyn in the water can see the path. She is outside a magical field and it seems that the points continue along the sand downward. She gets 80 ft downward and the path continues into the dark, further than she can see. At the edge of her vision, the sea bed might be over there. This path continues. When Hawthorn and Gwyneira, on the beach try talking abyssal, nothing happens. Felix puts a little magic in the stone to see if it affects it and it does. The magic gets stronger, healthier/rejuvenated. It feels like arcane, but not the same spell as what we used to open the door to the underground city. The water begins to glow a slight bit between the rocks, about twenty feet. When Gwyn and Hawthorn lift their hands, nothing changes, so Idham follows and it functions the same. We seem to have repaired more than sustained.

We, all but Az, walk out into the water. Gwyn can tell immediately something is different. It is not well lit, but it is dimly lit. She can see much better than before. The path is visible for a while before it’s just too far to see anymore. Idham walks along, every now and then sticking his head underwater. When he pops his head out, he notices that it feels wetter outside the water. Idham decides to try to breathe underwater. He is barely able to convince himself to take a breath underwater. Immediately, he coughs instinctively, but there is no water in his lungs. He just walks after the group. Felix doesn’t look back. Idham catches up with Felix. Idham tries to speak to him, and it sounds like normal speech. Gwyn turns around to see the two of them on the bottom. Xander gets above the dark spot, and sticks his head over the dark section. He sees all of us down there, including Idham. Xander is about 100 ft above us. Xander decides to head down to us. He swims down, and about 15 ft above our heads, the darkness disappears. Suddenly, he feels less wet. Idham tells him to come over, and Xander does swim to him and realizes that Idham spoke underwater. Idham pops the bubble that Xander put in front of his mouth to breathe. As it pops, Xander grabs toward his throat to cough before realizing that his lungs aren’t full of water. The path continues down, and we can’t see the end.

We head back to the surface and decide to continue exploring the island.

We reach a mountain range where there is a straight line up before we can continue. Azazel carries Gwyn and Ringo up. The rest climb. We walk along the mountain range. Hawthorn notices, then Idham, then Xander some patterns in the ground every so often, a recurring pattern in between every hill. It looks like bits of trail as they start to study it, an unnatural path. From above, Azazel, though hard to tell with trees and the like in the way, can see that they are all heading inland. Idham asks Azazel to try to triangulate. He says a couple of hills east of where we are. Felix shifts into a Valkyrie so he can fly up with Azazel, as does Xander. Idham is carried by Az, and Hawthorn and Gwyneira continue along the ground.

The flying group are able to see that there is a pattern to these paths, specifically designed in some way, all leading to a point. Hawthorn and Gwyneira hear some rocks starting to roll down a hill nearby. They look and see three rock trolls, peeking over their heads over a rock. Gwyneira and Hawthorn fight. Gwyn is able to call for help, so Azazel and Idham head back, while Felix and Xander, knowing they are too slow to do much to help. While Gwyn and Hawthorn fight and Azazel dashes to get close, Felix and Xander come across a cave entrance that the roads lead to. They then start heading back.

We beat the rock trolls and shortly after, Felix and Xander show up. Xander face-planted when he was running and has a bloody face. Xander and Felix tell us what they found. We decide to finish our return trip back to the camp. We head to bed and sleep through the night with uneventful watches.
