(A quick note here, I've added these synopsis for people to go back and remind themselves about what happened or if people come in later and don't want to start at the beginning, they can read these really fast, but they are not a replacement for watching our videos as they are not full descriptions. If you don't want to video, you will miss most of the comedy and all of the fighting as I am not going to do a play by play of each attack. So, please check out our videos)
Day 10 8/31/2022
Deep in the Cave
We head down the tunnel and come to a split where we go right and the feeling of the shade portal fades. The cave becomes less and less cave-like and looks more like it’s been created. Then, the ground becomes paved. The further we go, the more it looks like we are in a place that was created as opposed to being a natural formation. We arrive at another split. This one is labeled. The one pointed down the narrow hallway to the left says, “To the mine.” The other says, “To the City.” We head to the city, up the stairs. There is about one flight of stairs. We get to the top and get to what looks like a small compound. In front of us is a two story tall building. The first floor seems to not have any entrances and there is a staircase leading up the the second floor but it’s broken. There is no longer a door. There are blue crystals glowing dimly on the ceiling. We check the building, and decide to head inside. We go up the stairs, most of us getting across the crack, but Hawthorn gets a weird leg cramp and falls backward. He is able to get up and jump across.
We come to a room full of coffins. They have ancient abyssal written on them. It says, “Thank you for your sacrifice to keep our lord at bay.” Felix and Xander check out the stairs in the middle of the room. We all head down the stairs, but they are broken here and there so we jump down. To our left is a pit. To the right looks to be rotted pews and on a four foot raised dais is an altar, broken throne, and symbols to Vulkus, and then 10 ft up is another coffin, this one dark in color. Felix and Gwyneira get some pieces of wood lit. Idham gets some sticks and lights them on fire from Gwyn’s torch and drops them into the pit. Idham hears a faint voice telling him to jump as the sticks continue to drop. He backs up. Hawthorn goes up to the altar, onto the dais, and feels a bit sluggish, his next step he feels weak, and on the third, he collapses to his knees and hands.
Xander studies the runes of Vulkus and he starts to feel angry for some reason. They seem desecrated somehow. He’s upset but something in the back of his head is VERY upset. He takes a rune of thunder that he just inscribed and throws it, a loud blast of thunder resounding as it hits. The stone where the Vulkus rune is shatters. He is still angry, but a bit of a pleased feeling comes from the back of his head. Xander steps onto the dais and Hawthorn stands up. The altar and dais are both in perfect condition, the one remaining symbol to Vulkus is in perfect condition, the throne is shattered, the stairs are split. Gwyn comes up and goes to check, when she goes to move above the first step, she feels like she’s gone through a barrier and is weakened. She sees an image on the coffin start to glow. Gwyneira can tell that the coffin isn’t shadow magic, but the pit behind us is.
Felix talks to his staff. Idham starts walking on the broken section of the stairs and nothing happens, but when he steps across to the regular section, he gets hit with some damage and falls to one knee. The runes on the coffins say, “Here lieth the final king of the island, may his body lay here forever.” Idham steps further onto the dais, and is crawling along the ground to reach the coffin. He touches it, and his vision begins to swim. His vision fades to black and he sees it begin to lighten up before him. He sees a beautiful courtyard. The sun is shining, he’s amongst the clouds, and there are people wandering around the gardens. He sits on a throne, being carried around by servants, his dark green skin glistening under the sunlight, and he is similar in size to how he is as Idham. He is carried through the gardens and as he approaches anyone, they fall to the ground, bowing. At the edge of the garden, he glances to the side and sees he is a good way up, seeing an island below him, and thinks that his floating castle is amazing. He then gets vertigo, and falls to the ground, seeing the sky and the castle above him. His vision clears and he is back in his own body, and Idham pushes himself away from the dais, launching himself past the stairs.
Xander takes out his other rune of thunder and chucks it at the other rune to Vulkus. Hawthorn lunges off the dais as Xander gives him a shout. The other symbol shatters and that thing in the back of his head isn’t as angry. It’s smug. Felix casts smite on the pit and nothing happens. Felix moves right up to the edge of the pit. In the back of his head, he hears, “Jump.” Felix uses shadow reach to reach down into the pit and recasts smite more central into the pit. Nothing happens. Xander engraves another rune of thunder, and moves close to the pit and tosses the rune of thunder in. It vanishes. Felix reaches to poke the ring of metal with his staff, and hears the voice telling him to jump again, and this time he does, but Idham is able to pull him back. Then, we hear a loud boom of thunder from the rune. Felix smites the ring, and blasts a line in it. It still holds together, but it looks weakened there. Idham tosses a piece of wood into the hole, and Felix casts meteor on the wood. And Felix jumps again, and Idham warden’s grasps him back. He casts a meteor on the metal thing, and the brass ruptures. A voice tells all of us to jump now. We jump. Idham casts a tiny hut below us. His feet pass through the top as he casts it but the rest of us land on top of the tiny hut, about 12 ft below the top.
