Sypet Day 12 Episode 20 and 21

(A quick note here, I've added these synopsis for people to go back and remind themselves about what happened or if people come in later and don't want to start at the beginning, they can read these really fast, but they are not a replacement for watching our videos as they are not full descriptions. If you don't want to video, you will miss most of the comedy and all of the fighting as I am not going to do a play by play of each attack. So, please check out our videos)

Day 12 9/21/2022

Deep in the Cave

We wake up and head up the stairs back to the town. We head back to the initial building, and arrive in the room with the coffins. We head back down to the chapel. The pit is no longer giving off a dark energy. Gwyneira moves closer to the coffin to read it, and notices that the images are much clearer and are actively glowing. Felix looks at the ring in the pit to see if it’s different, and it’s not really. The images Gwyn sees, the first is of someone in a crown with a long cloak sitting in a throne behind an altar. A taller dais is empty behind them. Next image, the same being has that same being with their head in their lap. Next, there is no king, there is a coffin with an empty dais. The final image is someone being pushed into the pit. That one glows brightest of all.

Idham steps onto the dais and sits on the throne. As Idham sits, around him, spectral beings pop up, off to the sides of the dais. Only Idham can see them. They all draw out knives. One of them walks right up to him. The being looks like an orc. Gwyn notices that the first image is now glowing as brightly as the last one. The spectral being in front of Idham reaches and grabs above Idham’s head and then the being slashes at him, and the blade passes through Idham. The hand lowers and drops something in Idham’s lap, but there’s nothing there. The second image glows. The orc turns and lunges at the first spectral being. They fight and the orc takes down all the other spectral beings, winning through knife play. The orc kills all but the last, who is a goblin. He drops his knife and freezes, hands up. The whole mirage freezes. Just as Idham thinks he should do something, the goblin moves. The orc is still frozen, but the goblin walks over and stands in front of the throne. He looks at the dais and down at the lap, shakes his head and turns around. He moves his hands and the bodies begin levitating, and he drops them one by one into the pit until the orc is the only one left. The goblin turns back to the throne, shifts his hands, and does something, but Idham can’t see what. Idham looks around and sees bits of dust getting pulled from everywhere and materializing on the dais behind him. He watches as the coffin forms. The goblin walks over behind the orc, snaps his fingers, the orc stumbles forward and the goblin snaps his fingers and disappears. The image fades. The third image glows, all four glowing now, and a rumbling starts.

The rumbling stops and a scratching starts on the coffin lid. Four skeletal fingers stick up through the gap and shove the lid off. Inside is a skeletal being dressed in what used to be nice clothes. The beings sit up. His head spins slowly 360 degrees, and then he stands the rest of the way up. He reaches up and grabs his head, lifts it off, shakes it, puts it back on, lets it go, the head tips, he rights it again, it tips, he takes it off and sets it back in the coffin. He kicks it and it rolls. He reaches down, picks the head back up, and flips it upside down. He reaches into his clothes and grabs a rib bone and snaps it off. He snaps it up through the spine connection in the skull and then slams the head back on. His head ticks, his shoulders snag. He turns his whole body to look at Idham. Idham holds out the mortar and the skeleton sticks a hand out toward it. Felix reaches through a shadow portal and takes the staff that is next to the skeleton. The skeleton has a hand on the mortar. His body starts to slouch and slump. His legs are bending. He looks like he’s slowly falling. The skeleton looks surprised. Felix hands the staff to Xander. Xander is getting mixed signals in his head, both glee and terror from the presence he has been feeling. Idham pulls the mortar back and the hand lowers and tries to reach toward the mortar, but very slowly.

Hawthorn asks if the being speaks abyssal, and he replies very very slowly. He slowly slides into the coffin, and Idham sees a sword and some silver pieces and goes to grab the sword. The skeleton’s hand continues to reach for the mortar, but his other hand goes to move toward the sword.

With the staff in Xander’s hand, he reaches for Vulkus in his mind, and black runes appear down the length. As Idham looks at the skeleton, it becomes covered in runes. As Xander tells Felix that he called out to Vulkus, the staff vanishes. Idham draws the sword and it has runes, glowing white. As soon as he finishes drawing it, the sword vanishes. The staff and sword are now the skeleton’s possession, as is the mortar. He takes the mortar and shoves it into his face holes. In his eyes, the mortar has solidified and it starts to glow a bright green. He opens his mouth and speaks. He draws the sword from the scabbard. He asks what we want from him.

We ask him questions. He is the king of a long forgotten civilization. He says that the knowledge was contained in arcane whisperings. We are trying to figure out whether we should go along with this being and what he is offering us, and we are heading toward agreeing with him when Xander feels an overwhelming urge to attack this being as it’s an affront to Vulkus and is throwing her name around. Felix notices his brother's twinge. Xander wants to smash this thing’s face in. Xander raises his hand and a blue door opens in front of him, and he begins to take a step using his Fae Step. Felix tries to counterspell, but fails. Xander steps up to right behind the skeleton. Xander tries to morph the mortar out of the mouth of the skeleton. Idham moves in between the skeleton and Xander. Xander is able to start to pull the liquid out before Idham puts up a tiny hut. We all try to talk to Xander and Xander continues to talk to this voice in his head. Xander can tell this is a male’s voice. It sounds like the skeleton but with a better voice, but matches the cadence and speaking style of Vulkus. The voice tells him that he must jump into the pit and put the skeleton to sleep. Xander goes to fae step toward the pit, getting to the bottom of the altar. Felix and Idham try to stop him. Idham pulls Xander into the tiny hut. The skeleton goes to lop off Xander’s head with his sword. The sword glances off. Idham tries to get the skeleton to stop, but he won’t. He attacks again. Idham pulls Xander out of the bubble. Xander is singed as he comes out of the bubble, and Gwyneira sends one of her minions to stand next to Xander and uses scare on the Skeleton king who is now scared of Gwyneira and all her minions. Felix reaches out to heal Xander. Azazel uses his wings to push Xander and Felix back and holds up his sword and shield.
