(A quick note here, I've added these synopsis for people to go back and remind themselves about what happened or if people come in later and don't want to start at the beginning, they can read these really fast, but they are not a replacement for watching our videos as they are not full descriptions. If you don't want to video, you will miss most of the comedy and all of the fighting as I am not going to do a play by play of each attack. So, please check out our videos)
Day 8 9/8/2022
The Inn
Chodrak goes baby doll and the rest of us, beside Abcde, turn around. We don’t see what we expected. Two gnomes are holding an 8 and a half foot tall mirror in which we see Brixert. He asks if we’ve come across anything interesting and we say not really, but then Caleigh starts embellishing everything that happened, talking about the wolves and there being an army of them instead of the ten or twelve that we fought. He takes notes and wants to know where we are currently going. Abcde tells him about the mine. He tells us to watch our backs and to watch out for the little green. When we ask about how Brixert found the right mirror to talk to us, he tells us that he is projecting himself through all reflective surfaces in Taba and just happened to get the mirror, so we look at other reflective surfaces, and see him a bit in other surfaces. Rayvvin is aghast at the amount of magic it takes him to do this and Abcde feels better about getting their ass handed to them when they fought Brixert. Caleigh tells him we’re in Manza and he thinks we skipped ahead and once again warns us to be wary of the little green. He tells us that if we need to get in touch with him we can do so by standing in front of a reflective surface and saying his name three times. Abcde didn’t turn around throughout the whole conversation. Brixert disappears and the gnomes run off with the mirror.
Outside
We grab the wolves and on the way out, Abcde gets a tiny mirror. We change into cold weather clothing and head out of Manda. We travel for the next six days, scoping out for the mine. We keep good track of where we’ve been and don’t get lost or go in circles. At the end of the sixth day, there still isn’t anything.
It’s been 13 days, some of us think we’ve crossed our paths once or twice, but we aren’t lost. We didn’t cover as much ground. Caleigh flies high into the sky, and to the west at the edge of her vision, she sees a dark mass, and though she isn’t sure what it is, it looks like a very large city. She gets a slightly ominous feeling but also that we’re gonna end up there. She tells us about it, and is about two weeks away. Rayvvin has Artimious pull out his maps, and he thinks it is likely Manza. We still head toward the city, Artimious gets rations from hunting, Rayvvin gets some, and Caleigh loses one. We reconvene with Artimious three days later. Caleigh spots a valley up ahead. In that valley is a solitary little mountain. It’s not a very large mountain but it's steep and it looks very different from the others. She gets very excited and she spins around in the air before she comes to join us. We head that way. Over the next two days, we head northward. We round one last rise, and we look into the valley. It is filled with snow and ice. There is a small mountain that looks like we think it should. We do checks while Sterling decides to go shield sledding.
Everything here is magical. Caleigh pushes Sterling down a large hill. Sterling flies down the hill, about 54 miles an hour. He reaches the bottom and starts skipping along toward the mountain and he’s able to avoid the trees, and hits a snowbank, and launches 60ft in the air. He lands and plows straight into the next snowbank. There are some sled runs and then we head down into the valley. This mountain has trees on it, though everything in the valley is void of life. The snow is about thigh deep and we have to trudge through it. We are heading approx toward the pillar of arcane energy. Abcde tries to detect the magic, and they can tell that the spell isn’t active or being used. They aren’t sure what the spell is. It feels like the top of this pillar is open and that maybe there was supposed to be something above that isn’t there right now. The magic in the lake feels stifled. From the mountain is the feeling of creation.
Caleigh and Everlee fly around to see if they can spot the door. Abcde gets carried by Caleigh, and the other four of us go toward the base of the mountain along the ground. We feel a magical energy nearby. We see a small round piece of stone sticking out of the snow, the only stone in the area. Sterling goes over to it, and finds that it has writing on it. It’s not in a script that we recognize. Sterling accidentally on purpose calls out to Brixert but takes advantage of it to have Brixert read the stone. He thinks it’s abyssal but it’s a little wrong. It says, “Mind your head, and watch out below.” Brixert asks us about what else has happened and Sterling closes his sword, which Brixert had been reflecting on.
Caleigh, Abcde, and Everlee are flying. They feel they should go up the lakeside of the mountain. They see something bright and shiny and fly toward it. Chodrak boops the stone and feels like he has done that before on a big lake in a warmer place. Sterling throws an anvil, slamming into ground near the stone, and it causes cracks and the anvil falls through. Abcde gets put down next to the mountain and sees the door down about 6 ft in the ice. There is stone where the anvil is and Sterling climbs down into the hole he made to see what’s down there. The anvil is stuck in the stone and at the bottom he sees a stone dais. Abcde uses his magic to shoot an eldritch beam with fire at the door under the ice and tries to melt through. They make it all the way to the door, creating two small holes down to it. Caleigh, Sterling, and Artimious feel a noticeable warmth to their backs and turn to see what it is. What they find is that the ice on the lake has melted and the lake is boiling. There are shapes rising up in the lake.
