Hello everyone, this is Jaimie reaching out to give you a little information on how we film the video, and then to give you a synopsis of what has happened. When we film, we sit down for around 3-4 hours and play, with an intermission in the middle. With this recording that we have made, we go in and edit, and then split the video into two pieces (when it's long enough). We understand that sitting down to watch a 3-4 hour recording can be a pain (I've done it, t's not fun), so we decided that splitting each session into two videos would be the best option. Now, we don't do this if the video is closer to two hours, so sometimes one session will be one video. It depends on how much side chatter happens and how much we have to edit out. This will make it more palatable. And as for the synopsis that I will now be putting up, I will be posting what I write (cleaned up a bit for easier reading) during our sessions into the blog after the video of that session has been posted. This way, viewers can go back for bits of information that might be needed later, or if for those that don't have the time to focus on the video, you can read a quick overview here. I still ask that you watch our videos because obviously that helps us in the long run. But I wanted this to be an option in case it really isn't a possibility to watch the video but people still want to know what happens. I hope this helps! Please enjoy.
The Library of Taba Synopsis
Day 1 4/21/2022 (Taba 1)
In Quetares
We start in and right outside the city of Quetares. Caleigh (Kay-lee) stands inside the city, looking around for an inn to stay in for the night. Chodrak is observing the city from just inside the walls. Abcde (Ab-sii-dee) is resting under a tree, just outside the city walls. Sterling is wandering around, looking for adventures, with the intention of heading to the guild hall. Everlee is exploring the city, trying to get comfortable being out on her own, and trying to find companions, wandering around and heading toward. Rayvvin (Ray-vin) is heading straight to the inn. Caleigh has her wings folded in and hidden.
Rayvvin is the first to notice another, spotting Caleigh, who stands radiant and glowing. And shortly thereafter, Caleigh spots Rayvvin, very shocked by this strange being that she sees. Caleigh stops to have a conversation with Rayvvin, wanting to know more about them. Sterling is looking around, seeing the griminess of the people around him. As he looks around, he sees Rayvvin and Caleigh chatting. Noticing that they are noticeably cleaner, he decides to chat with them. Chodrak sees the growing group of people, so decides to move closer to the conversation, but is attempting to not get noticed. We don’t notice him at first, but as he creeps a little closer, we finally notice him. Sterling tries to say hi to this little doll, but Chodrak flutters back and away from his hand.
Everlee continues to meander, walking through the streets. She decides to look for a place to clean up as her feet are getting quite dirty. She heads down the main road. The group all notice her walking toward them. Sterling goes to say hi, having to lean down from his 8 ft 4 tall frame to do so. We are able to befriend her.
Abcde stays under the tree relaxing, but is pulled away from it when they hear a voice saying that they aren’t quite what they seem. They look up to see a well-dressed elf, wearing a suit. The elf invites Abcde to his home for a drink, and they accept. His name is Allerton. They reach forward to shake hands and the elf cleans them with prestidigitation. Abcde finds no sinister intent. The two walk along and Allerton seems to walk on the top of the mud instead of trudging through it. They reach the main street. He looks left, right, and up and pulls up his sleeve to look at a glittering band on his wrist, saying they need to wait. Abcde steps back and waits. Shortly thereafter, a group of 5 walks past, this group being the rest of the party.
We see Abcde and the posh elf who is looking at the piece of glittering metal on his wrist. This man introduces all of us to each other. He said his bird told him to expect us. We all follow him to meet his master. We come to an inner wall with a gate that’s heavily guarded. They stop us and Allerton steps forward to give the guard his papers. He tells us to go through. Sterling goes to high five the guard and the guard looks at him skeptically before giving him the high five.
We head into the financial district where the road turns to marble and the homes are polished porcelain. We feel out of place as this area is quite clean and glittering. We track mud and some people drop down behind us to clean and polish the marble. They are in rags and chains. Chodrak takes off his shoes, and Sterling tries to take off his feet in order to stop tracking mud.
The Mansion
We proceed forward. Near the end of the street, we come up to an ornate black house. It’s made of black porcelain, shiny and reflective, with a nice yard inside its small wall. It has grass in the yard with flowers and vines growing freely. Allerton welcomes us to the house. He, his master, and his 400 slaves live there. We step inside to the grand foyer, which is made of black onyx, has a red carpet, and a gold and crystal staircase that leads up to the second floor, and ahead of us is the great hall that has a very long table in the center. Allertone waves a hand and the door closes behind us, and he directs us that we may clean ourselves or wander until dinner in half an hour. He leads us toward the showers/bathroom. We walk down a hallway still made of black onyx with a blue carpet. We continue on and it starts to feel warm inside, warmer than outside. He leads us to a door made of glass, a material that only Caleigh has seen before. It’s a beautiful bathroom with constantly running water. He starts to talk about things that happen in the future.
Abcde asks Allerton if he’s from the current time period, and he says he’s from the future. His master brought him here, and if we want to know more, we need to talk to his master. Chodrak sits outside the bathroom and meditates while Abcde, Caleigh, Rayvvin, and Everlee all go to bathe. We set our clothes down and they are carried away by invisible hands to be washed. Sterling decides to go wash as well. As we are bathing, our clothes come back and they are pressed, and cleaned, as well as mended. Allerton is waiting at the ready out in the hallway. Chodrak feels like he is supposed to meet this group as he meditates on this feeling.
Abcde, Rayvvin, and Everlee are chatting about how strange Allerton is and the situation surrounding him. Caleigh tries to move closer to the three of them and Sterling reaches out to poke and stroke her wing and she has no idea. Sterling gasps in joy because they are so soft. Sterling and Caleigh move over to chat with the rest of the group. Sterling goes to get Chodrak, running into the glass door, cracking it but not shattering it. He doesn’t care and just pushes it open. Allerton snaps his fingers, making the glass mend itself. Sterling leans down to grab Chodrak. Chodrak feels as a pair of hands close around him and he attacks. The attack just glances off Sterling a little. Sterling tries to calm him. Chodrak does calm down and decides to follow Sterling. The two head back into the bathroom and we all gather together.
We chat for a bit before being interrupted by Allerton saying that dinner will be ready soon. We all go and get dressed, and he leads us to the great hall, where dinner is being served. At the head table, there are nine places set, with gilded plates. A whole roast sits there. Two place settings are removed but the chairs stay there. He leads us to the head table, and gestures for us to sit. He takes a seat. Rayvvin checks for traps, and we all sit down. Slaves comes out and start serving us food. Those of us that eat start to munch on the food in front of them. A booming voice echoes through the room welcoming us, and in walks a large and richly dressed man. He says his name is Brixert and he is the master of the house. He is quite thrilled to meet us. He plops down into his chair and opens his mouth, and a slave starts feeding him.
Abcde starts asking questions of Brixert, who sayshHe knows of us but hasn’t met us. When asked how, he says he read about us in books and saw videos about us. We don’t know what videos are. Caleigh asks if he’s been speaking with the gods, and he says yes. She wants to know if “she” sent him for her, and he says no, but “he” did. He says he didn’t come from the future, but seems suspicious. We can tell he is lying through his teeth. Sterling tries to practice laughing, but it doesn’t sound authentic. Brixert says everyone who is sent or comes to Taba is here for knowledge. We are all here for answers. He says he will give us those answers. All he wants from us in return is one question. He says no matter our answer, we are welcome to stay and eat and drink.
As we eat, we notice that there is an unoccupied chair, but food is being put on the plate and it’s disappearing. Caleigh gestures to Rayvvin to poke it, and they do. The area is icy cold and damages Rayvvin. Brixert says not to touch the last guest, and he pales and becomes reserved before diverting attention away from it when asked who the last guest is. We drink the wine, most of us not getting drunk, but at various levels of tipsy. Brixert is swaying though.
Sterling, tired of waiting, asks what the question is. Brixert asks Allerton to fix him up and he becomes less drunk. He asks, “Are you brave enough to undergo accepting the knowledge, knowing that it shall not be easy. It may cause you great pain in the short term.” He knows at least one of us will accept the secret based on his knowledge of the future. He goes around the table, asking if we will accept it, and we answer thus: Rayvvin, yes. Everlee, yes. Sterling, yes. Abcde, yes. Chodrak, yes. Caleigh, yes.
He is pleased we all say yes, though he didn’t expect it. The secret shall come to each of us. The empty chair slides back. Being closest, Rayvvin goes first. They feel a pair of hands on either side of their head. Their head begins to burn, and then they hear voices in their head, though they can’t tell what is being said. It’s brutally painful. Rayvvin takes damage, and others can see their hair compress in a bit and their skin turns icy black. And then it withdraws. Rayvvin doesn’t feel okay, their head spinning and voices and whispers swirling. The same happens to Everlee. Sterling is next. Then, Abcde. And Chodrak. And finally, Caleigh.
He tells us to rest, and let the secret come to us. Allerton rises and has us follow him. He says he can’t imagine the touch of an Allip. Rayvvin, Everlee, and Sterling don’t know what an Allip is. Chodrak knows it’s an undead ghost of some kind, once a living being that died and for some reason stuck around. Abcde knows that Allip’s are remnants of people driven insane who killed themselves. The insanity comes from a secret of knowledge that they can’t reveal, with knowledge powerful enough that they go insane from it and kill themselves. An Allip’s touch will transfer the secret to the one they touch. They don’t tell us what they know.
Allerton tells us we can pick a room, or the communal room if we decide. The doors have our names on them. The rooms are lavishly furnished, with clothes that would likely fit us perfectly. Abcde and Caleigh try on the clothes. There is a nice balcony with a bathing area. Sterling powers down in the hallway, and Chodrak meditates in the hallway. Rayvvin goes to the communal room. Everlee goes into her own room. We all take some clothes.
We all fall into a fitful rest. The voice in our heads moves to the forefront. Images flash through our minds. A war. Valkyries flying down and fighting against the being of the land. The beings are around a large trapdoor surrounded by ice. The scene changes and down the trapdoor we see a huge library, faceless people walking by as they look at the books. The scene changes and the people lie dead, everything ablaze, but nothing burning. Then we hear, “The Library is open. The Library must be found.”
