Sypet Day 16 Episode 26 and 27

(A quick note here, I've added these synopsis for people to go back and remind themselves about what happened or if people come in later and don't want to start at the beginning, they can read these really fast, but they are not a replacement for watching our videos as they are not full descriptions. If you don't want to video, you will miss most of the comedy and all of the fighting as I am not going to do a play by play of each attack. So, please check out our videos)

Day 16 11/16/2022

Aping Outside

The Half-Elf doesn’t know how long she’s been in there. Gwyn gives her her courtesan’s outfit, so she is no longer naked, and she introduces herself as Valira. She puts on the outfit. She says her master probably put her in the sword to protect her or heal her. When she was put into the sword, she said she had just finished killing the leader of a town that razed the world, twice (War on Heaven Campaign). Her companions attacked heaven. It was just shy of 2,000 years ago as Idham remembers, but that’s about all he knows. She talks about her old companions, Lavi, Lilith, Khatriana, and Kosiku, which Gwyn knows all but Khatriana.

She asks what she can do for us. We don’t know and ask about the sword, but she knows nothing about it. She let us know that she is into guys and girls. She summons a dark aura, a demonic presence. Xander is the only one who can’t handle it. Felix’s staff is chuckling. It’s definitely the aura of her shadow. Gwyn has a flashback, seeing a dark, dank dungeon room with a fireplace, beings in cages along one wall, animals along the other. An array of adventurers fighting the hawk faced lady and wax faced man. Her father is in front of her, and she watches herself suck the life out of him. Gwyn is certain at that point, she was more powerful than the being in front of her, though she is not tapped into. She does not seem mad like Gwyneira was when she had that power. Xander’s presence in his mind backed up from this and it seems scared of her. He checks the connection, and the reply is that that thing is evil. She had been blocked by the evil on the island. She shrinks in the aura. The Staff of Fangar is telling Felix to go talk to her. She can teach him some of the way of the wolf. Felix moves closer to her and she calls him a young pup. Felix gets down on one knee and introduces himself, and kisses her hand. It would be foolish for Felix to contract with her, she says. The staff think if he was in her hands, it would be a beautiful union as they would cause utter chaos. Felix wants to know what it would cost to receive her help. She says it depends on what you want.

She tells Felix that he has the mark of the wolf, from family connections (because of Kav). The staff tells him that he is a dark protector and needs to follow the path. Felix kisses her hand and walks away. Gwyneira wants help with her shadow magic. She says that Gwyneira is already being led down the road to darkness and would slowly lose herself to it before she could teach her. She says the easiest and fastest way would be to form a contract and she could show her how and not to take it lightly as the only way out is by killing the one you contracted with. She tells Gwyneira that she must contract with something that can’t overwhelm you without trying.

Felix ignores his brother who is standing next to him, trying to talk to him, asking the staff what he needs to be a dark protector. The answer is that he’s already heading that direction. If he commits, the staff will let him use it and can help show him the way. Felix tells him to use him to his will. Xander is just trailing along, thinking, before he grabs Felix’s shoulder to shake him. Xander wants to talk to him about his past, and Felix walks away saying it’s not a good time for that. Xander keeps pace with him.

Aping

We head back to the city, Valira in tow. The guards eye us a little more heavily, but Valira reaches out to touch them, and they slump against the gate. We all head to the inn. Valira follows us inside and goes up to the innkeeper where she speaks quietly. She walks back over to us. We head to the second floor. As we head up, quite a few people are heading down from the third floor, carrying their stuff. Someone is telling them to get out. She tells us goodnight and heads up to the third floor. The rest of us pick a room and sit to talk. AFter that, we head to our rooms, Idham and Azazel sharing one, Xander and Felix get the second, and Gwyneira the third. But for the moment, Felix follows Gwyneira to her room, with her permission. Idham meditates on the events of the day. Xander and Az get ready for bed. Felix and Gwyn talk. Felix leaves and heads back to his room with Xander and kicks the door open. Xander goes to lean back in bed, and Felix talks to him. We all head to sleep.

The next morning, all of us but Felix head out into the square while Felix mediates. The tavern is blockaded and there are guards outside. Idham walks up to one and asks what happened. He says it’s a crime scene where soldiers went awol and all of them were murdered. They are still sorting out the body parts. The current count is 27 and they expect it to double. Idham asks after the military enchanter and he points him there. We get some food before collecting Felix and heading to the enchanter.

Military Camp

We head to the military camp. Az is uncomfortable. Gwyn puts an illusion over Az to make him look like a human with tan skin and black hair. We head in. There is a nice big house and nearby is a big building which is where we were directed. We go over to meet a couple guards. They want to know what we want. We say it’s for the war effort and they send us inside, second floor. We quickly spot a Dwarf who is likely the enchanter. We approached him. He is surly. Xander and Idham show him the staff and sword to have him check them. He says he can do so but it will cost us. For the cost we must either foot him enough coin to hire some people to deal with his crap while he works on this or we could do his stuff for him. The coin would be probably about 120 gold. The work that we would have to do is this: they’ve lost contact with one of their forward bases, though it’s more like they can’t get in and can’t see anyone in there. They can get to about 15 ft of the walls and that’s it. At that point, there is a force stopping them. If someone forces their way in, they can’t be seen anymore. They want to be able to talk to them or at least know what has happened and be able to reoccupy the base. We say we’ll go and check it out for him, not having the money to pay him for someone else to do it. He goes and grabs a map and comes back, giving us a week to complete the request.

We split up before heading out. Idham goes to the guild hall and Gwyn goes to get some rations. Gwyn then goes to the inn to find Valira. The third floor has been newly renovated to be one large room. The bed takes up most of us a wall of the inn, being huge. Valira is sprawled on the bed, snoring loudly. Gwyn gets her up and she tells them to have breakfast ready. We head out to meet the guys and we head out.

Traveling through Sypet

We head about an hour down the road before Az puts on his armor. After about a half hour, we are no longer in sight of the city of Aping. People are disappearing, most staying back from this area. We keep heading down the road, nothing happening. We see no current signs of people. As we continue, a few hours in, we see some people a couple hundred yards away. Az takes flight. He says it’s a Sypet patrol, about 6 of them. Gwyn casts an illusion on his armor. It kind of works but slides off. Instead she uses an illusion to make him look like a Goliath so that it will hide all of his armor. We keep heading forward, finally passing the patrol. They eye us but keep going, heading back toward Aping. Another hour and nothing. And the hour after, we see another group. A larger group of about 30. They are moving quicker. They are moving toward the road. He says it’s a group from Delet. Gwyn drops the illusion on Azazel. Az unfurls his wings and we head toward the group. They approach us. They are all wearing heavy armor similar to Az’s but his is more impressive, walking. As we get close and they see Az, the group stops and drops to the ground, prostrating themselves to him. Azazel has them send off ten of their number to kill the Sypetian guards we passed earlier. They inform us that as the throne of Sypet is empty, they are trying to find someone to take it. Azazel’s name is in the list, and Az is super not thrilled about it. He asks them about the base we are heading to to see if they know what happened, and they say it wasn’t Delet and they know nothing about it. We say goodbye and keep heading onwards. There are no more incidents. There are patrols that we see along the way, but we don’t meet with any of them.

We arrive at the forward base. We check it out, and come to find that the barrier is bigger than we were told, not 15 but 40 ft from the wall. It is definitely a barrier spell of some kind. Idham figures out not just a barrier spell, but also a stasis spell. It is locked from the inside. We can penetrate it safely without harm, but to exit we might need to put out some powerful magic/dispell the barrier. It is definitely arcane in nature. We hold hands and step inside.
